Independence Day

This year we spent the Fourth of July at Grandma and Opa's house. They set out a wading pool and a slip and slide! Karina, Elsa and Tommy enjoyed the pool but no one was quite brave enough to really try the slip and slide. The only "ones" to go down the slide were the dump truck and the soccer balls from Uncle Quentin and Aunt Lisa! But that was lots of fun for those three to follow along as it went down the hill! Unfortunately, Claire wasn't able to get too much out the the water activities but she did some tricks of her own by standing up and taking some steps on the wet grass!

As usual the food was a big part of the celebration and this time both Karina and Elsa tried Grandma's famous eclairs! They both ate most of the dessert, although a fair amount ended up on both pairs of hands! Apparently, custard makes for really good hand squishing! See below!

"Look Grandma! We have custard all over our hands and faces and our mouths are full too! We love Grandma's eclairs!"

Tommy and Daddy enjoying some dinner!

Always fun to play with Grandma's different toys! Here's Tommy making the "Vroom, vroom" car noise as he plays with a toy car.

Styling his curly mop with teeny tiny hair brushes!

Afterward we went out to Elsa's house to watch the country club's fireworks display. This was Karina's first time watching fireworks and she had a great time! She only got one mosquito bite and wasn't scared by the loud bangs! Even Tommy was still awake and seemed to "Oooh and Ahhh" a little bit, although he was a bit preoccupied with plucking, drumming and serenading us on Elsa's ukelele. Yeah, he found it in Elsa's room as I was going to put him to sleep in the pack n play and destroyed any possibility of him actually falling asleep anytime soon! Oh well! Although Karina wanted to stay for S'mores, she got to take a marshmallow for the road. Shockingly, neither Karina or Tommy fell asleep in the car and as a result they didn't go to bed until almost 11pm!
