Another Week Older

Tommy and Karina

Well, we all survived the last week when Tom and I both went back to work...me back to part time and Tom back to clinical work (he'd already been doing the administrative work part time.) Tommy and Karina did fine with Aunt Beth, Tom survived Tuesday evening alone until I got home and I lived through another fine day at County.

Tommy has been doing more and more with his hands and has gotten to the point that he has made it clear that he wants to go play in his "Jungle" (the play yard) by leaning towards it as I start to carry him away from his changing table. We have all been able to spend more time outside as the weather has gotten nicer and it is so precious to notice that Tommy is so "moved" by the breeze that he often gasps when it touches his face.

Our precious Tommy

Tommy is getting more mobile such that he is frequently found perpendicular to the direction in which he was placed in his crib having wriggled both arms out of his swaddling blanket. We'll hear him "talking" in his crib and find him with a big smile on his face when we come in to get him. Tom always thinks he looks so proud of himself when he's gotten his arms free.

In regards to true mobility (i.e. crawling), Tommy seems to be quite advanced...especially compared to Karina who didn't crawl until 13 months old. When he's laying on his tummy, he can actually propel himself forward just a little bit by pulling his knees up and raising his bottom off of the changing table...kind of like an inchworm!

Tommy and Karina continue to be very interested in each other. Karina smothers him with touches, hugs and kisses and she got to feed Tommy his bottle last week.

Tommy watches everything Karina does and you can almost see his little brain trying to figure out how to do all of those big kid things. I'm sure he will not be a late crawler, walker or talker!
